How Wet Road Conditions Can Lead to Loss of Vehicle Control
Wet roads can quickly reduce tire traction, especially at higher speeds. When a vehicle hydroplanes, the tires lose contact with the pavement and ride on a thin layer of water, making steering and braking difficult.
This loss of control can cause a vehicle to drift into other lanes or off the roadway. Even experienced drivers may struggle to regain control once hydroplaning begins, particularly on highways.
Factors like worn tires, standing water, and sudden steering movements can increase the risk. Drivers are often advised to slow down during rain and maintain proper tire condition to reduce the chances of losing control in wet conditions.
