Philadelphia, PA (January 20, 2026) – A DUI-related crash involving a police vehicle at the intersection of N 21st St and Cecil B. Moore Ave early on January 20 resulted in injuries to two officers and led to a large-scale emergency response. The crash, which occurred around 4:13 a.m., involved four vehicles in total, two of which were occupied at the time of the collision.
According to reports from the scene, a female driver was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence. She was transported to Temple Hospital following the crash. Both officers involved reported pain-related injuries, with one complaining of leg pain and the other experiencing discomfort in both the leg and hand. Medic 22 transported the injured officers to Temple Hospital for further evaluation.
Due to the nature of the crash and the involvement of law enforcement personnel, CID (Criminal Investigation Division) was notified, and the entire intersection was shut down to preserve the scene for a thorough investigation. Additional officers were positioned to block nearby roads, including 19th St and Cecil B. Moore Ave, while RCC camera footage was reviewed for further evidence.
Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the role of impairment and the extent of damage sustained by all vehicles involved.
