Barry Co, MO (January 22, 2026) – A serious two-vehicle collision involving a teenage driver left two men injured on Wednesday morning on MO-76, approximately 7.4 miles east of Cassville.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 7:40 a.m. when a white 2002 Ford Explorer, driven westbound by a 16-year-old girl from Cassville, lost control near the crest of a hill. The SUV crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban driven by a 35-year-old man from Washburn.
The impact forced the Explorer off the roadway, where it overturned and came to rest on its side. Both vehicles sustained total damage and were towed from the scene by local recovery services.
The driver of the Suburban suffered serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. A second report also listed him with minor injuries and noted he was taken to Cox Hospital in Monett. It’s unclear at this time if this represents a correction or reflects evolving medical evaluation at the scene.
Emergency responders worked quickly to assist the victims and manage the roadway while the investigation unfolded. No information was provided regarding safety device use for either party, and the crash remains under investigation by Troop D authorities.
We send our thoughts to those recovering from this incident and hope for a swift and complete recovery.
