What Investigators Look for After a Fatal Residential Fire
After a deadly house fire, crews work to determine how and where the fire started. Investigators often examine burn patterns, electrical systems, and heating sources inside the structure. Manufactured homes can burn quickly due to construction materials and compact layouts.
Fire officials may also review whether smoke alarms were present and functioning. These devices can provide early warning and increase the chance of escape.
In serious incidents, debris is carefully cleared to locate the origin point. Weather conditions, ventilation, and how the fire spread through rooms are also reviewed. These steps help piece together how the fire developed and why it became fatal.
