Chicago, IL (March 14, 2026) – Five people were transported to hospitals on Friday evening following a multi-vehicle crash on Chicago’s Far South Side, according to authorities.
Officers with the Chicago Police Department responded to the scene around 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of West 115th Street and South Throop Street in Chicago, Illinois.
Authorities reported that the crash involved multiple vehicles, including a tow truck, a Chevrolet passenger vehicle, a Chicago Transit Authority bus, and a parked Toyota.
Investigators said the tow truck was traveling westbound when it struck the Chevrolet. The impact caused the tow truck to continue forward and collide with the CTA bus, which was then pushed into the parked Toyota.
Emergency responders evaluated several individuals at the scene before transporting five people to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Officials confirmed that two of the injured individuals were juveniles. The extent of the injuries has not yet been released.
Authorities have not provided additional details regarding the circumstances leading up to the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
We hope for a full recovery for those injured in this accident.
Chain-Reaction Collisions Often Occur in Urban Traffic Areas
Multi-vehicle crashes in busy urban areas can quickly escalate when an initial collision pushes vehicles into nearby traffic or stationary objects.
Roadways such as West 115th Street carry steady traffic throughout the day, and intersections with local streets, such as South Throop Street, can create complex traffic patterns.
When large vehicles such as tow trucks or buses are involved, the force of an impact can push additional vehicles into the collision path. Investigators typically analyze vehicle speeds, traffic flow, and driver actions to determine what factors contributed to the incident.
