What Factors Are Common in Motorcycle and Turning Vehicle Collisions?
Crashes involving motorcycles and turning vehicles often occur at intersections or junctions where drivers must judge oncoming traffic. Misjudging a motorcycle’s speed or distance can lead to a collision during a turn.
Visibility is another common factor. Motorcycles are smaller than other vehicles and can be harder to see, especially in low light or when partially blocked by other traffic.
Timing and decision-making also play a role. When a driver turns without fully clearing oncoming lanes, even a brief miscalculation can result in a serious crash due to the limited protection for motorcyclists.
