Injury Risks in Late-Night Intersection Crashes
Late-night intersection crashes can cause serious injuries because visibility may be reduced. Drivers may also have less time to react when vehicles enter or turn through the same area. The force of impact can be especially hazardous when one vehicle collides with the side or front of another.
Ejection from a vehicle can lead to head, spine, or internal injuries. Facial cuts occur when glass breaks or a person hits part of the vehicle interior. Even injuries first described as non-life-threatening may still require hospital care and follow-up treatment.
Crash reviews often focus on vehicle paths, traffic signals, road layout, and witness accounts. In crashes involving emergency response vehicles, factors such as speed, lights, sirens, and traffic movement may also be reviewed.
