Why Crashes Involving 18-Wheelers Often Lead to Major Highway Closures
Collisions involving semi-trucks can cause significant roadway disruptions due to the size and weight of these vehicles. Even a crash involving only two vehicles may require extended cleanup efforts if debris, fuel spills, or damaged cargo are present.
Passenger vehicles involved in crashes with 18-wheelers often sustain severe damage due to the size difference and the resulting impact forces. Highway speeds can also increase the severity of injuries during these incidents.
After major truck crashes, investigators commonly examine vehicle positions, braking evidence, roadway conditions, and traffic flow. Mechanical issues, visibility, and driver actions may also be reviewed as part of the investigation into the collision.
