Why Road Debris Can Create Risks After a Two-Car Crash
Two-car crashes can leave glass, metal, vehicle parts, and fluids on the road. These hazards may make it unsafe for other drivers to pass through the area. Even small debris can damage tires or cause another driver to lose control.
Road closures are often needed when a crash blocks travel lanes. Closing the road gives crews room to help injured people, move damaged vehicles, and remove debris.
In rural areas, closures can also affect nearby routes because drivers may have fewer alternate roads. Crews often work to clear the scene while keeping traffic away from damaged vehicles and unsafe roadway conditions.
