What Factors Are Often Reviewed in Pedestrian-Motorcycle Crashes?
Collisions between motorcycles and pedestrians can lead to severe injuries due to the limited protection for both parties. Investigations often look at roadway layout, lighting conditions, and whether crosswalks or traffic signals were present. These details help establish how the crash unfolded.
Visibility is another key factor. Motorcycles are smaller than most vehicles and may be harder to see, especially at night or in busy intersections. At the same time, pedestrians crossing wide roads may face multiple lanes of traffic.
Speed, point of impact, and street design are also commonly examined. Urban intersections with turning traffic and changing signals can increase risk for both riders and people on foot.
