Why Rollover Crashes Often Involve Entrapment and Serious Injuries
Rollover crashes can lead to complex rescue situations because vehicles may land on their sides or roofs, trapping occupants inside. When this happens, emergency crews often need to use tools to cut through parts of the vehicle to safely reach those inside.
These crashes are sometimes triggered when one vehicle enters the path of another, especially at intersections or stop signs. The added force from larger vehicles, such as trucks pulling trailers, can increase the chance of both vehicles overturning.
The movement during a rollover can also cause occupants to be thrown against the vehicle’s interior, increasing the risk of injury. These factors often require careful handling and extended rescue efforts at the scene.
