Why Single-Vehicle Crashes Can Be Fatal
Single-vehicle crashes can be particularly dangerous because the driver often has no external factor, such as another car, to absorb or redirect impact forces. When a vehicle leaves the roadway, it may strike obstacles like trees, ditches, or culverts, increasing the risk of serious injury or death.
Ejections from vehicles are one of the most serious outcomes in these accidents, often resulting from a lack of seatbelt use or high-impact collisions. Road conditions, vehicle speed, and driver actions all influence how a single-vehicle crash unfolds.
Because there is often only one occupant, every aspect of the crash is concentrated on that person, making even minor mistakes potentially life-threatening.
