Injury and Fire Risks After Multi-Vehicle Crashes
Multi-vehicle crashes can create several hazards at once. People may suffer injuries from the impact, broken glass, airbags, or sudden movement inside the vehicle.
Ankle and hand injuries can happen when occupants brace before impact or try to exit damaged vehicles afterward. Even injuries that seem limited may need medical evaluation if pain, swelling, or bleeding continues.
Fire adds another risk after a crash. Heat, smoke, leaking fluids, and damaged vehicle parts can make the scene unsafe. Emergency units may need to keep people away from the vehicles while checking for injuries, controlling hazards, and clearing the roadway.
