What Can Lead to Head-on Crashes on Rural Highways Like Hwy B?
Head-on crashes often happen when a vehicle drifts across the centerline into oncoming traffic. This can be caused by driver fatigue, distraction, or impairment. On rural roads like Highway B, narrow lanes and limited shoulders can increase the risk of this type of accident.
Road conditions may also contribute, especially if visibility is reduced or the pavement is uneven. In some cases, sudden steering corrections or speeding can lead to a loss of control.
Vehicle condition is another factor. Tire issues or brake problems can affect how a vehicle responds in critical moments. Wearing seat belts and staying alert behind the wheel can help reduce the risk of serious harm in these situations.
