Pottawatomie County, OK (March 29, 2026) – A deadly ATV crash was reported on Saturday night, March 28, at Soggy Bottom ATV Park along the Canadian River front. Authorities said two ATVs collided while being driven in the area, resulting in one death and several injuries.
According to officials, 45-year-old Jason Kane was killed when his ATV crossed into the path of another ATV operated by a 24-year-old driver from Oklahoma City. The impact caused Kane’s ATV to overturn, ejecting him from the vehicle.
Two passengers riding in Kane’s ATV were also hurt in the crash. Reports indicate that not all occupants in his ATV were using seatbelts at the time. The driver of the second ATV suffered injuries as well, while both the driver and passenger in that vehicle were wearing seatbelts.
Emergency units responded to the scene and assisted those involved. Additional details about the extent of injuries have not been fully released.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available. Our sincere condolences go out to the family of the deceased.
What Factors Often Contribute to ATV Accidents in Off-Road Parks?
ATV crashes in off-road parks can happen for several reasons, especially in areas with uneven terrain or limited visibility. Riders often share trails, increasing the chance of unexpected crossings, particularly at night or in crowded areas.
Vehicle control is another factor. ATVs can tip over if they are traveling at high speed or hit an obstacle. When multiple passengers are on board, balance may be compromised, making the vehicle harder to handle.
Safety measures like seatbelt use and protective gear can reduce the risk of severe harm. Visibility tools such as lights also help riders see others in low-light conditions. In recreational riding areas, awareness of surroundings and maintaining safe distances between vehicles can help lower the chances of collisions.
