Factors That Contribute to Head-On Crashes on Mountain Roads
Head-on collisions on mountainous or canyon roads often occur when a vehicle crosses the centerline, whether due to distraction, misjudgment, or road conditions. Narrow lanes, curves, and limited visibility can increase the likelihood of such accidents.
Vehicle speed and reaction time also affect the severity of a crash. Older vehicles or those with reduced safety features may provide less protection in high-impact collisions. Understanding these factors helps explain why even minor driving errors can lead to serious injuries or fatalities in these environments.
