Brookfield, CT (January 19, 2026) – A serious multi-vehicle crash on Route 7 North in Brookfield on Saturday resulted in a pedestrian being struck and severely injured, prompting the full closure of the highway between Exits 11 and 12. The Brookfield Volunteer Fire Company responded to the scene, where they found one patient already receiving aid from off-duty first responders.
The incident occurred on January 17 and initially involved a three-car collision. One vehicle occupant reportedly self-extricated and was then struck by a passing vehicle, leading to the victim being thrown across into the opposite travel lanes. Emergency crews arrived shortly after to provide critical care to the injured party, who had suffered significant trauma.
In response, Route 7 North was shut down in both directions near South End Ave as rescue personnel stabilized the scene and began an investigation into the sequence of events. The injured pedestrian was treated on-site and later transported for further medical attention. The extent of other injuries, if any, has not been confirmed at this time.
Our hearts go out to the injured individual, and we hope for a full and swift recovery.
