Pedestrian Safety in Urban Areas
Pedestrian crashes in densely populated urban neighborhoods can result in severe injuries, particularly during busy morning traffic periods near schools and intersections. High traffic volume, congestion, and distracted or reckless driving often increase the risk to pedestrians.
Safety advocates continue to encourage drivers to reduce speeds in residential and school areas while urging pedestrians to remain alert when crossing busy streets and intersections.
