Why Vehicle Fires Can Increase Crash Scene Risks
Vehicle fires after a crash can create fast-moving hazards for passengers, responders, and nearby drivers. Smoke may reduce visibility, while heat and flames can make it harder to safely reach anyone inside or near the damaged vehicle.
Two-vehicle crashes at intersections can also leave debris, fluids, and damaged parts across the road. These hazards might require lane closures while crews treat injured people and make the area safe.
Possible leg injuries, including femur fractures, often need careful medical handling. Responders may work to limit movement, check for other trauma, and move the injured person to a hospital for further care.
