Cass Co, MO (January 12, 2026) – A rear-end collision on Sunday afternoon in Cass County resulted in injuries for a young driver after two vehicles collided on E 227th St near S Shaffer Rd.
The crash occurred around 12:40 p.m. on January 11 when a westbound 2003 Ford Focus struck the rear of a 2005 Ford Escape, which was also headed westbound along the rural stretch of roadway. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage and were towed from the scene, one by All City Tow and the other by J’s Southland Tow.
The 20-year-old male driver of the Ford Focus, a resident of Pleasant Hill, was injured in the crash and transported by Cass County Fire to Cass Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries. The 42-year-old female driver of the Ford Escape, from Freeman, was reportedly unhurt and remained at the scene following the incident.
Troopers confirmed that both drivers had been properly restrained at the time of the collision. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, assisted by Trooper C.J. Drum and Cass County deputies, is continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the crash.
