Chesterfield, VA (January 8, 2026) – A pedestrian was pronounced dead after being struck by a vehicle late on Tuesday evening in Chesterfield County, according to local authorities.
At approximately 8:37 p.m. on January 6, officers with the Chesterfield County Police Department were dispatched to the 7300 block of Route 1 following reports of a serious crash involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a southbound vehicle had struck a woman attempting to cross the roadway.
The pedestrian, identified as 41-year-old Carri Underwood of the 3800 block of Midlothian Turnpike, sustained severe injuries in the collision. Emergency medical services responded promptly, providing care at the scene before transporting her to a nearby hospital. Despite all efforts, Underwood later succumbed to her injuries.
The driver involved in the incident remained at the scene and is reported to be cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation. Authorities have not released additional details regarding potential contributing factors or whether any charges are under consideration at this time.
