What Can Lead to Crashes at Stop Signs in Urban Areas?
Stop sign crashes often happen when a driver fails to fully stop or misjudges cross traffic. In busy neighborhoods, visibility can be affected by parked cars, buildings, or low lighting, especially during early morning hours.
When a vehicle enters an intersection without stopping, the risk of a side-impact collision increases. These types of crashes can involve multiple passengers and lead to injuries, even at lower speeds.
Traffic patterns in urban areas can change quickly, with vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians sharing the road. Staying alert and approaching intersections with caution can help reduce the chance of a crash.
