We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Ornelas Jr.
Why Nighttime Bicycle Crashes Often Lead to Serious Outcomes
Bicycle crashes at night can be especially dangerous due to reduced visibility for both cyclists and drivers. Poor lighting conditions make it harder to see road users, particularly in rural or less-developed areas.
Rear-end collisions often occur when drivers fail to notice cyclists ahead in time to react safely. Factors such as speed, roadway lighting, and driver attention can all influence the severity of these incidents.
Safety equipment like helmets and reflective gear can help reduce the risk of injury. Proper lighting on bicycles can also improve visibility, especially during early morning or nighttime hours.
