What Is Commonly Reviewed After a Single-Vehicle Wall Impact Crash?
Single-vehicle crashes involving fixed objects are often closely reviewed to determine why a driver left the roadway. Investigators typically examine vehicle speed, road alignment, and possible distractions or impairments leading up to the impact.
Physical evidence such as tire marks, vehicle damage, and the final resting position can help reconstruct the sequence of events. Road conditions and visibility during the early morning hours are also commonly assessed.
In urban areas, nearby intersections, signage, and roadway design may also be reviewed. Medical reports and passenger accounts can later help provide additional context as investigators work to understand the circumstances of the crash.
