Fire Hazards Inside Commercial Buildings
Commercial building fires can spread quickly when smoke, heat, and damaged materials build up inside. Boarded-up or vacant structures may also create added challenges because entrances can be blocked or unsafe.
Smoke inhalation is often a serious concern in building fires. A person inside may be overcome before flames reach them, especially if exits are hard to find or conditions change quickly.
Fire crews may need to begin from outside when flames or structural conditions make entry unsafe. Once the fire is reduced, they can move inside to search rooms, check for hazards, and make sure the fire does not restart.
