Why Tractor-Trailer Crashes Can Cause Severe Injuries
Crashes involving tractor-trailers can cause serious harm because of the size and weight of the truck. Smaller vehicles may absorb much of the impact, especially when the collision happens on a high-speed route. Children and adults inside the smaller vehicle might face different injury risks based on seating position and impact force.
Entrapment can make a crash response more complex. Crews may need to stabilize the vehicle, remove damaged parts, and create enough space to safely reach injured people. This can take time while medical teams work nearby.
Air transport could be used when patients need faster access to advanced care. Serious or critical injuries can require trauma treatment, imaging, surgery, or close monitoring at a hospital.
