How Speed Can Influence Motorcycle Crashes at Urban Intersections
Motorcycle crashes at city intersections often happen quickly and can result in severe outcomes. Riders have less physical protection than those in cars, increasing the risk of serious injury or death in a collision.
Speed can affect both reaction time and stopping distance. When a rider or driver is moving faster, it becomes harder to avoid sudden obstacles or to adapt to changing traffic conditions. Even a small increase in speed can reduce the time available to respond.
Intersections like Van Maren Lane and Auburn Boulevard often involve turning vehicles, merging traffic, and varying speeds. These conditions can create situations where visibility and timing are critical for both riders and drivers.
