Clark Co., MO (April 14, 2026) – Three teenagers were injured Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Business US-136, about one mile west of Kahoka in Clark County.
The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. on Monday, April 13, when a 17-year-old boy driving a pickup truck failed to stop at a stop sign. The truck then collided with an SUV driven by a 16-year-old girl from Kahoka.
Emergency units responded to the scene and found multiple people hurt. The pickup driver suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Columbia for treatment.
The SUV driver and a 16-year-old passenger in the pickup sustained minor injuries. Both were taken by private vehicle to a hospital in Memphis, Missouri, for care.
Officials said the two teens with minor injuries were wearing seatbelts, while the pickup driver was not. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as they become available. We are thinking of those injured as they receive medical care.
How Failure to Stop at Intersections Can Lead to Crashes
Crashes at stop signs often happen when a driver fails to yield before entering an intersection. This can lead to side-impact collisions, especially when another vehicle is already moving through the crossing.
Younger drivers may have less experience judging speed and distance, which can increase the risk of miscalculations. Even a brief lapse in attention can result in a serious crash.
Seatbelt use can reduce the risk of injury, but not wearing one increases the risk of severe harm. Intersections require full stops and careful observation to help prevent such accidents.
