Cobb County, GA (April 6, 2026) – Two people lost their lives in a multi-vehicle crash involving a semitruck on Friday, April 6, along Interstate 75 north in Cobb County.
Emergency units responded to the interstate after reports of a serious crash involving multiple vehicles. Authorities said a Freightliner semitruck failed to stay in its lane and struck another Freightliner. After the initial impact, the first truck moved back toward the right lane, where a pickup truck pulling a trailer crashed into its rear.
The pickup then traveled across several lanes, while the semitruck, identified as a Papa John’s vehicle, lost control. It overturned and struck a sound barrier along the roadway. Two occupants of the semitruck, 28-year-old Zory Beavers and 42-year-old Royan Osborne, were killed in the crash.
The drivers of the other vehicles involved were not injured. The northbound lanes of Interstate 75 were closed for several hours following the incident.
The crash remains under investigation. We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victims.
How Do Multi-Vehicle Crashes Develop on Busy Interstates?
High-speed roadways often carry steady traffic, which can increase the risk of chain-reaction crashes. When one vehicle loses control or changes lanes unexpectedly, nearby drivers may have little time to react, leading to additional impacts.
Large trucks can add complexity due to their size and weight. When a semitruck is involved in a crash, it may take longer to stop or stabilize, especially if it begins to veer or overturn. This can affect multiple lanes and increase the number of vehicles involved.
Debris, sudden lane closures, and shifting traffic patterns can also contribute to these incidents. Drivers may need to make quick decisions, and limited space can make it difficult to avoid a collision as the situation unfolds.
