What Happens During a Head-on Collision?
Head-on collisions often occur when a vehicle crosses the center line and enters oncoming traffic. These crashes tend to be severe because both vehicles are usually traveling at full speed at the time of impact.
The force from opposite directions can lead to serious damage to the front ends of both vehicles. Drivers and passengers are at higher risk of life-threatening injuries in these types of accidents.
Road conditions, visibility, and driver actions are commonly reviewed after a head-on crash. Even a brief lane departure can result in a devastating outcome when traffic is moving in both directions.
