Medical Response After Serious Two-Vehicle Crashes
Two-vehicle crashes at highway intersections can cause injuries that require different levels of medical care. Some people may be taken by ambulance, while others may need a medical helicopter for faster transport to a larger hospital.
In these crashes, emergency units often check for head injuries, broken bones, chest pain, and internal trauma. Even when a person is awake and alert, symptoms can change after the crash.
Traffic control is also part of the response. Damaged vehicles, debris, and emergency equipment can block lanes or shoulders. Clearing the scene safely may take time, especially when multiple patients need care and vehicles must be removed from the roadway.
