How Head-On Collisions on Roadways Are Investigated
Head-on crashes often require careful reconstruction to determine how both vehicles ended up in the same lane of travel. Investigators typically examine skid marks, impact points, and roadway layout.
These types of collisions can be especially serious because of the combined force of two moving vehicles. Even moderate speeds can result in significant injuries when vehicles strike each other directly.
Road closures are common after head-on crashes to allow emergency crews to provide medical care and safely remove damaged vehicles from the roadway.
