Dallas, TX (July 10, 2026) – A Dallas police officer and another driver were hurt on Wednesday afternoon after a passing vehicle struck a patrol SUV during a traffic stop on northbound U.S. Highway 67 in Dallas.
The collision happened at approximately 3:52 p.m. in the 6200 block of Marvin D. Love Freeway. Police said the officer was outside the patrol vehicle conducting a traffic stop when a passing vehicle hit both the officer and the police SUV.
The officer was taken to a hospital for a precautionary evaluation. The driver of the passing vehicle was also taken to a hospital. The extent of their injuries has not been released.
Television footage from above the roadway showed at least four damaged vehicles, including the patrol SUV, a blue sedan resting on its side, and two midsize SUVs being loaded onto tow trucks. It has not been confirmed whether the vehicle involved in the original traffic stop was part of the accident.
Northbound traffic between Red Bird Lane and Hampton Road experienced significant delays while emergency units worked on-site. Investigators continue to examine what led to the collision. We are thinking of those hurt and wish them a full recovery.
