He is facing charges connected to intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and intoxication assault involving serious bodily injury.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and more details will be released as soon as they become available.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.
Why Overnight Expressway Crashes Can Lead to Serious Injuries
Crashes that happen during overnight hours on busy expressways often lead to severe injuries because vehicles are usually traveling at higher speeds. Traffic is lighter during early morning hours, which can sometimes cause drivers to react later to hazards or lose control more easily.
Concrete barriers, support pillars, and limited shoulder space can also increase the force of impact during a crash. When multiple vehicles become involved, passengers in both vehicles may face a greater risk of serious harm, especially if a vehicle spins or strikes fixed objects along the roadway.
In crashes involving suspected impairment, investigators often review roadway evidence, vehicle damage, and witness statements to better understand how the collision unfolded. Medical evaluations and crash scene evidence may also help explain the extent of injuries suffered by those involved.
