What Causes Lane Closures After Highway Crashes?
Routes carrying regional traffic near Interstate 84 can experience delays after accidents, especially when multiple lanes are affected. When a crash blocks travel lanes, traffic may slow quickly or come to a stop while the scene is managed.
Lane closures are often necessary to allow crews to remove damaged vehicles and clear debris from the roadway. Even after one lane reopens, reduced space can continue to cause backups.
Highway crashes can impact traffic flow for extended periods, depending on the severity of the incident. Drivers traveling through affected areas may need to reduce speed and remain alert to changing road conditions.
