DeKalb County, GA (May 12, 2026) – A deadly head-on crash claimed the life of one woman and left two other people critically injured Monday evening, May 11, in DeKalb County.

Emergency units were called to the intersection of Glenwood Rd and Hollyhock Ter around 6:02 p.m. after reports of a serious collision. Early findings show that a driver traveling along Glenwood Rd crossed the center line and entered oncoming traffic before striking another vehicle head-on.

A woman riding as a passenger in the second vehicle suffered fatal injuries in the collision. The two drivers involved in the crash were seriously hurt and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment following the evening accident.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims. Officials also have not confirmed whether any charges are expected as the investigation continues.

Investigators are still working to determine what caused the vehicle to cross into opposing traffic. Our sincere condolences go out to the family of the woman who lost her life.

What Factors Are Often Reviewed After a Head-On Collision?

Head-on crashes are often reviewed closely because they can lead to severe injuries or fatalities. These collisions may happen when a vehicle crosses the center line, enters the wrong lane, or loses control while traveling on a roadway with opposing traffic.

Road conditions are commonly examined after this type of accident. Wet pavement, poor visibility, damaged road markings, and traffic flow can all provide useful details about how a collision may have occurred. Vehicle damage and the final resting positions of the cars may also help clarify the sequence of events.

Medical reports can later provide additional information about the severity of injuries suffered by those involved. In some cases, witness statements and nearby surveillance footage may also help piece together the moments leading up to the crash.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
