What Makes Multi-Vehicle Crashes More Complex and Dangerous?
Multi-vehicle crashes can quickly become complicated due to the number of people involved and the potential for chain-reaction impacts. When multiple vehicles collide, the force of each impact can increase the likelihood of serious injuries and vehicle damage.
Entrapment is also more common in these types of crashes, especially when vehicles sustain heavy structural damage. This requires specialized rescue efforts and can extend emergency response times.
Airbag deployment indicates a significant impact, and while airbags help reduce injury severity, they also signal the force involved in the crash. Drivers can reduce the risk of multi-vehicle collisions by maintaining safe following distances and staying alert to changing traffic conditions.
