Solon Township, MI (July 6, 2026) – One person lost their life, and six others were hurt following a head-on collision along Algoma Avenue NE in Solon Township early on Saturday morning, July 4.
The crash happened just south of 15 Mile Road at about 12:30 a.m. Investigators said a 58-year-old man was driving an SUV in the wrong direction when it struck a pickup truck operated by a 19-year-old man from Hastings.
Emergency units removed the SUV driver from the vehicle before he was taken to a hospital, where he later died. The pickup driver and five passengers were also taken to hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to serious. Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the fatal wreck; however, the cause of the collision remains under review as they continue gathering evidence.
