What Can Affect Pedestrian Safety Near Bus Routes?
Pedestrian safety near bus routes can depend on visibility, traffic speed, turning space, and the way crosswalks connect with stops. Buses make frequent stops and may travel close to curbs, intersections, and frontage roads. These roads can carry fast-moving traffic while also serving people walking to transit stops or nearby businesses.
A pedestrian hit by a bus may have pain in the legs, hips, back, or shoulders, even when early reports describe minor harm. Medical checks can help rule out injuries that become more noticeable later. Investigators may review traffic signals, lane position, bus movement, lighting, and pedestrian path. Camera footage from nearby businesses or the bus itself may also help show how the contact happened.
