Why Rollover Crashes Can Become More Dangerous When Fire Is Involved
Rollover crashes can become especially dangerous when a vehicle catches fire after the collision. When a car overturns, fuel lines, the engine, or other components may be damaged, leading to a fire.
High-performance vehicles or cars traveling at higher speeds may sustain significant damage during a rollover. This can increase the chance of a fire starting shortly after the crash.
Fires can spread quickly through a damaged vehicle, particularly when flammable materials such as fuel or interior components ignite. This creates additional risks for occupants and can make rescue efforts more difficult.
Emergency responders often focus on quickly reaching the occupants and controlling the flames to prevent further injury or damage.
