Industry, CA (July 28, 2026) – A multi-vehicle crash disrupted traffic on Monday morning, July 27, on Interstate 605 near Valley Boulevard in the City of Industry.

According to the California Highway Patrol incident log, the collision was reported shortly before 6:45 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-605 just south of Valley Boulevard. Initial reports indicated at least three vehicles were involved, but responding officers later confirmed the crash involved five vehicles, including a gray Honda Civic and a white Volkswagen Passat.

The collision blocked the HOV lane and the No. 1 and No. 2 lanes, prompting temporary traffic stops while emergency crews worked to clear the scene. Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel also responded, and a rolling fire response was requested as a precaution. Several damaged vehicles were moved to the right shoulder before tow trucks removed them from the freeway.

Authorities did not immediately release information regarding injuries. The roadway was eventually cleared, and all lanes reopened after the damaged vehicles were removed. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

We are thinking of everyone involved and hope anyone injured makes a full recovery.

Why Multi-Vehicle Freeway Crashes Cause Major Traffic Disruptions

Collisions involving several vehicles on busy freeways lead to significant traffic delays because damaged vehicles may block multiple travel lanes, limiting traffic flow and creating secondary hazards for approaching motorists.

Investigators typically review vehicle damage, skid marks, roadway conditions, witness statements, and any available traffic camera footage to determine how the sequence of collisions unfolded. In chain-reaction crashes, establishing which impacts occurred first is an important part of the investigation.

Emergency responders may temporarily stop traffic to protect crash victims, allow fire personnel to address potential hazards, and give tow operators enough space to safely remove disabled vehicles. These measures help reduce the risk of additional collisions while the scene is being cleared.
