Serious Risks in Semi-Truck Intersection Crashes
Crashes involving semi-trucks can be severe due to the size and weight differences between commercial trucks and passenger vehicles. When these vehicles collide at intersections, the impact can cause significant damage. People in smaller vehicles often face a higher risk of fatal injury.
Rural highway intersections may include higher travel speeds, open sight lines, and long stretches between traffic controls. Drivers may also encounter farm equipment, commercial trucks, and local traffic using the same routes. These mixed traffic patterns can affect how quickly vehicles enter or clear an intersection.
After a fatal collision, investigators often review vehicle paths, impact points, and roadway markings. Traffic signs, visibility, and final resting positions may also provide useful context. These details can help explain how a crash unfolded after early reports were released.
