How Left-Turn Collisions Involving Motorcycles Often Happen
Crashes involving motorcycles and turning vehicles are a frequent concern on busy highways and intersections. These incidents often occur when a driver misjudges the speed or distance of an oncoming motorcycle while attempting a left turn. Motorcycles are smaller and can be harder to see, especially at night or in low-light conditions.
When a rider is ejected from a motorcycle, the risk of severe injury increases significantly. Without the protection of a vehicle frame, the body is exposed to direct impact with the road or other vehicles. Helmets and protective gear can reduce harm, but serious injuries are still common in these situations.
Traffic flow and visibility also influence how these crashes unfold. Intersections with multiple lanes or turning points can increase the chance of miscalculations between drivers and riders.
