Bicycle and Commercial Vehicle Crash Risks
Collisions involving bicycles and large commercial vehicles can result in severe injuries due to the size and weight differences between the vehicles involved. Intersections, roadway crossings, and areas with mixed pedestrian and vehicle traffic can present significant hazards for cyclists.
Safety officials encourage cyclists to remain highly visible, use designated crossings whenever possible, and wear protective equipment such as helmets. Drivers of commercial vehicles are also reminded to remain alert for bicyclists and pedestrians, particularly in urban areas and near intersections.
