Head-On Crashes and Passing Zone Safety
Head-on collisions are among the most dangerous types of traffic accidents due to the combined force of impact between opposing vehicles. Crashes occurring during passing maneuvers on two-lane rural roads frequently result in severe or fatal injuries, especially when drivers attempt to pass in marked no-passing zones.
Traffic safety officials remind motorists that no-passing zones are established in areas where visibility, curves, hills, or roadway conditions create an increased risk of collisions with oncoming traffic. Drivers are encouraged to remain patient and avoid unsafe passing attempts, as they can quickly turn deadly.
Investigators will continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the Grant County crash as part of the ongoing investigation.
