Pedestrian Crashes on Major Roads Often Involve Limited Reaction Time
Pedestrian crashes on busy roads like Staples Mill Road can happen quickly, especially in areas with steady vehicle traffic and multiple lanes. Drivers may have limited time to react when someone enters the roadway unexpectedly.
Even when a driver remains at the scene and cooperates, investigators still review several factors, including traffic flow, lighting conditions, and pedestrian movement. Gathering areas or nearby events can also increase foot traffic around major intersections.
Older pedestrians may face additional risks during roadway crossings due to walking speed and visibility concerns. In many cases, investigators examine the exact location of the crossing and vehicle position to better understand how the incident occurred.
