Head-on Crashes Often Leave Drivers Trapped Inside Vehicles
Head-on collisions are among the most dangerous types of crashes because the force of impact is concentrated at the front of both vehicles. These crashes frequently cause severe damage to engine compartments and driver areas, increasing the risk of occupants becoming trapped.
When drivers are pinned inside a vehicle, emergency crews may need specialized rescue tools to cut through doors or damaged frames. This process can take time, especially when vehicles are heavily crushed after a direct impact.
Crossing into opposing traffic lanes is one of the leading factors in head-on crashes. Investigators often examine roadway position, speed, and driver movement to better understand how a vehicle entered oncoming traffic before the collision occurred.
