Las Vegas, NV (May 8, 2026) – A 15-year-old boy was hurt in a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Cactus Ave and Jones Blvd in Las Vegas on Thursday, May 7, just before 1:30 p.m. The teen was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver fled the scene after striking the boy. The same vehicle was later linked to a second crash near Gossamer Stone Ct and Joaquin Fire St, where the driver fled again without stopping.
No injuries were reported in the second incident. The vehicle had not been located as of the latest update, and no suspect has been identified publicly.
Authorities continue to investigate both incidents, and more details will be released as they become available.
Our thoughts are with the injured teen as he continues to recover.
What Should Pedestrians and Drivers Know About Hit-and-Run Laws in Nevada?
Nevada law requires any driver involved in a crash to stop, provide their information, and render reasonable aid to anyone who is hurt. Leaving the scene of a crash involving injury is a felony offense in the state, with penalties that increase based on the severity of harm caused. When a driver flees and is later connected to a second crash, those incidents are typically investigated together.
In Las Vegas, pedestrian safety near busy intersections is an ongoing concern, particularly for younger people walking to or from school or nearby areas. Teens are among the more vulnerable road users because they may be less experienced at judging traffic speeds and gaps. Surveillance cameras, witness accounts, and vehicle debris left at the scene are often key tools used to track down a driver who has fled.
