What Factors Can Contribute to Motorcycle Crashes on Highways?
Motorcycle crashes on highways often involve sudden loss of balance, road hazards, or speed changes. Even a small disruption, such as uneven pavement or debris, can cause a rider to lose control at higher speeds.
Visibility also plays a role, especially at night. Drivers in larger vehicles may have difficulty spotting motorcycles, particularly if lighting conditions are poor or traffic is moving quickly. This can reduce reaction time if something unexpected happens.
Protective gear and road awareness can help reduce risks, but motorcycles remain more exposed than other vehicles. Without the structural protection of a car, riders face a higher chance of severe outcomes during collisions, especially on fast-moving roads like interstates.
