What Is Commonly Examined After a Residential Fire
After a house fire, investigators usually inspect the structure to determine where the fire started and how it spread throughout the property. Areas with the heaviest damage often receive close attention during the early stages of the investigation.
Damage to roofs, floors, and garages can provide clues about the intensity of the heat and the direction the flames traveled. Investigators may also examine electrical systems, appliances, and other possible ignition sources inside the home.
Even when fires are controlled quickly, smoke exposure and heat can still cause injuries. Medical evaluations after residential fires often focus on breathing issues, burns, and other conditions that may not be immediately visible at the scene.
